TMJ Disorders and Jaw Pain
The TMJ is a complex joint that allows you to open and close your mouth, chew, and speak. When the TMJ is not functioning properly, it can lead to a variety of problems, including jaw pain, clicking or popping sounds in the jaw, difficulty chewing, and even headaches.
The Connection Between Jaw Pain and Ear Issues
The close proximity of the TMJ to the inner ear means that problems in one area can often affect the other. When the TMJ is not functioning properly, it can put pressure on the nerves and muscles in the surrounding area, including those that control hearing and balance.
